Hi, I'm Kurt.
I'm a UX designer
inspired by a sense of play.

(also inspired by large bodies of water.)

Since I was young,

I’ve been fascinated by how design shapes interactive experiences. This started when my brother was gifted an N64 for Christmas by my Grandma. When I was young I used to love to sit and watch my mother play Zelda. The wonder I felt as a child seeing this hand crafted world be influenced by my decisions inspired so much awe. It’s experiences like this that left a lasting impact on me that I wish to impart on to others through my work.

What started as modifying game files and crafting custom skins for my favorite childhood games eventually evolved into a passion for UX. Today, that blend of art, code, and play is at the heart of my design philosophy.

In 2022,

I graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Information Technology, majoring in UX Design . Since then, I’ve explored the intersection of hardware and human behavior through diverse projects; from an eye-tracking fatigue assistance system to an interactive, real-time musical punching bag.

My Projects

I approach design through a technical lens, always looking for unique ways to bridge user needs with system capabilities. Check out some of my recent interactive work. Give the icons a click!

I excel in

Various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. As for design programs, I work dexterously with the Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Leonardo, and Blender. And I've especially loved getting to learn the new Affinity design suite.

Today,

I’m currently employed as an IT Support Technician at Brisbane State High and Junction Park State school. I love the sense of community that working at the school has brought in to my life.

Looking ahead,

I’m excited about opportunities to use design as a form of creative expression while contributing to companies that value innovation and growth. I want to apply my skills to projects that create a positive impact for all.

Beyond Design:

Beyond the Screen: When I’m not coding or designing, I keep active with boxing or swimming. On the creative side, I draw daily and occasionally shoot on a second-hand Fujifilm X-Pro2. I'm also a lifelong gamer, which continues to drive my fascination with digital interfaces and interactive systems.

Playing:

Oblivion and Nubby's Number Factory.

Listening to:

Pokemon ost, berloiz, Idols, kneecap.

Reading:

The master and the margarita.
